Mozambique: Nyusi criticises disinformation on Cabo Delgado terrorism
Filipe Nyusi this morning opened the Coordinating Council of the Ministry of Defence with an incisive speech against disinformation, criticising un-named media outlets which fit a profile which he considers aligned with the strategy of the terrorists.
President Nyusi therefore wants the Defence and Security Forces to be vigilant, and include combating these attitudes, even within their own ranks, in their operational duties.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Defence Forces of Mozambique (FADM) also wants the army to safeguard human and humanitarian rights in the course of its actions.
The Minister of National Defence, in response, reiterated its readiness to face all challenges.
The 21st Council of the Ministry of Defence saw the presence of former ministers and leaders of the defence sector and will last three days, working under the motto “Defence Sector: Engaged in the Defence of Sovereignty and in the Consolidation of Peace, Facing the New Threats.’
